Since I left Ohio and moved to Myrtle Beach, SC, I have heard rumblings about this shortline. Who are they? Where is the base of operations? Is there someone I can talk to within the company? What is the motive power, and is any of it classical? How many miles of track and what days do they run on?
I need this info so I can possibly chase this shortline. I do know its been a couple of years since they've came to Myrtle Beach, but thats all I know right now.
Any info is helpful
Last I heard (shortly after moving from SC) is that they aren't running much and could be facing a possible shutdown. That's a rumor though so take it for what it's worth. The Carolina Southern website can be found
here. The website still talks about the Waccamaw line to MB, but I think it's been a few years since they've run there.
There are several shortlines within reasonable driving distance (1-2 hours) of Myrtle Beach though.

Thanks VirginiaSouthern. that info does wonders right now.
I recently read that the Carolina Southern has shut down their operation from Chadbourn to Myrtle Beach. due to poor track conditions. I believe they have an office in Conway,S.C. or Chadbourn.

The FRA shut them down over the summer because of the condition of 14 trestles along the line. They made repairs, ran briefly, and then the FRA came out again and ordered them to do more work to make the line safe.
The owners are now seeking government assistance to help repair the line. The linked article is the most current state of affairs.
