Car from Iowa in Southern Ontario

I went to the local railroad yard to see if I could video a train and this car was sitting there, it just caught my attention, having never seen this name before.

West Bend is in eastern Iowa and is the hometown of U.S. president Herbert Hoover.

It's also been re-stenciled with new reporting marks and likely not working for that elevator anymore.

PLCX is one of the many reporting marks for General Electric Rail Services Corporation.

You are thinking of West Branch. West Bend is in north western Iowa in Palo Alto County south east of Emmetsburg.

It is also home of the world famous Grotto of the Redemption.

I remember seeing those cars quite a bit as a kid as well as the pink Klemme Co-op Grain cars near my hometown. Good find!

I have been through IA on I-80, passed through Southern MN on I90, spent a weekend in DesMoins in 2008, and made quite a few trips to Davenport/Bettendorf, but never been in West Bend.

We get a few of those old COOP "grain" hoppers with the former owners' name and town out at Preferred Rocks near Genoa, Nebraska. Of course no grain, filled with sand.

There is one that has been siting around there for a while from Hancock Elevator from Hancock, Iowa.

Lets not forget the Soo Line Colormark ACF hoppers from the 70's We get those in almost daily to Nucor steel in Norfolk, generally filled with dolomite.
