While waiting at the double crossovers at CP Merrick (MP115.6) on BNSF's Emporia Subdivision in Emporia, Kansas to clear up for the day, a short unit train of half a dozen Boeing 737 fuselages passed us; also had a couple of cars that looked like autoracks but I believe carry aircraft wings.

On May 14th, shortly after we got the machines in the yard and tied down a severe thunderstorm rolled through with a lot of cloud to ground lightning. One of the lightning strikes knocked out the PTC system; Amtrak's Southwest Chief runs through Emporia before entering the LaJunta sub, which goes through Colorado Springs, CO. The disabled PTC system was stopping westbound freights and shut the traffic down for hours before the problem was fixed; our surfacing gang had our Form B cancelled because there over a 100 trains were backed up.

Saw these this afternoon when we came back into the Emporia Yd

The baby boat is ATSF 554 (B40-8W); if you zoom in you can see a highly faded BNSF stencil below the unit #; I was unable to get the number on the leading Dash 9.
