I just spotted a three car BNSF track inspection train in Tacoma, WA waiting to head southbound. (11/8/12 about 08:00)

There were three cars in the train, an OTIS car (Optical Track Inspection Services) car, a crew car and the theater car Skagit River. The power was a somewhat scruffy looking former Santa Fe loco.

I'm guessing he was waiting to get through the tunnel at Point Defiance, since he was parked on the main by the old Union Station, now the History Musuem. is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to - An online railroad bookstore featuring a curated selection of new and used railroad books.
