Yesterday (5 Apr) at about 6:45 PM I saw a special headed northbound through Prosper, TX, on the Madill Subdivision. It consisted of a single locomotive (BNSF 4433) and seven passenger-type cars that looked like corrugated stainless steel. One of them was named Stampede Pass and numbered BNSF 50. It had a pair if some kind of gadgets mounted on the roof. The last car carried the name William Barston Strong and the number BNSF 32; it had a full-width window on the rear. It looked like there was some equipment inside.
Thanks to my slowly recovering camera shutter, that's all the identification I have.
Isn't that the BNSF scientific lab train that does all of that quality control testing on fuel, broken rails from derailments, etc? They had an article in TRAINS Magazine a few months ago about it.
