Does anyone have the timetable of when trains typically pass through Longview, Washington? I'm new to the area and looking to check them out.
there is no "timetable," like a hard-and-fast schedule. it shouldnt be hard to see a train, since there are like 50+ of them, including amtraks, that pass through longview everyday. just go out to the tracks and be patient, you shouldnt have to wait longer than 30 minutes!

Thanks! Is there a way to determine what the content of the trains are?

boxcars usually contain clowns and elves, tank cars have liquified candy canes, and grainers carry candy corn. it's a seasonal thing. (you might also see some coal trains, thats for all the bad kids' stockings)
Visit nearby Kalama if you like unit trains. They have interesting mixes of power arrive. Plus the steel yard is just north of the grain terminal, neat to see all that iron on the ground!
