Rode six Notheast Corridor trains and had Wi-Fi problems on one of them. It worked part of the time.
Doesn't Amtrak offer Wi-Fi on the Cascades in the PNW? Do they have problems out here too?

Since they are using cell infrastructure, if there's no cell coverage, they won't have wifi coverage.
I have used or tried to use Amtrak's WIFI service on the northbound Cascade service to Vancouver. It was frustratingly slow and eventually I gave up. However, if it makes Amtrak feel better a few weeks ago I took Heathrow Express into London. It supposedly had wireless service but I was only able to load a webpage while the train was still in Heathrow Airport. After that nothing.
In general that has been my experience with free Wifi. If it works it feels more like a dial up service and that is on a good day but that is just my experience.
