$7 billion....must be some premium grade pork in there. I like the part where the stations many users may be asked to foot part of the cost. Renovate the station but $7 billion??

The Trump Tower with 2.6M square feet is estimated to have cost $847 million. Millennium Tower in San Francisco 58 stories, 1.1M square feet estimated cost $350 million. Track costs $1-2 million a mile to lay? Build a new office tower, say 50-100 miles of track, throw in that much more for cantenary and power distribution. You still can't get close to $7 billion.

The govt. must be involved. Only the politicians can come up with that kind of waste!

Amtrak needs new rolling stock equipment first. Shouldn't cost millions, as it has, for the smaller stations unless it has intermodal connections or is a total transportation center. An Amshack is fine, as long as there is increased train frequency.

This project is a pie-in-the-sky for the year 2020 and beyond.
