Amtrak at New Orleans Yard

Saw this sitting at the Amtrak yard. They have been loaded up for about a week.
Not sure where this happened but about 2 months ago they did have a wreck in Slidell Louisiana about 30 miles away.

Five months ago today, Amtrak’s northbound Crescent passenger train collided with a truck trailer in Slidell shortly after leaving New Orleans on its way to New York via Atlanta and Washington, DC, and Atlanta, causing the two locomotives and several cars of the train to derail, injuring some passengers and crew, and forcing those travelers to make alternative travel arrangements.

This month, the damaged locomotives have finally been put on flatcars for departure to Amtrak’s repair facilities to the north, and the pair of damaged locomotives was seen sitting on the tail of the wye of New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal on Monday afternoon.

WOW 5 months ago...... Does not seem that long ago. The truck had 2 armored vehicles on the trailer when it was hit. Lots of weight hitting the locos. Thanks for posting the link.

I know it's probably not gonna happen, but it would be fun to see these two tacked on to the back of the City of New Orleans for their trip back north...

Can these engines be fixed, or are they a total loss?
