. . ... -. . - . .
I had the privelege of escorting an AMTRAK film crew yesterday and today--01/08/2011 and 01/09/2011-- around the local area gathering information, interviews and action shots for the upcoming PBS AMTRAK 40th Anniversary special to be aired later on this year.
AMTRAK contractors Mr Rich Luckin and his cameraman Gary Tomsik were with me for two days as they:
1. Interviewed former AMTRAK CEO Alan Boyd in Seattle on 01/08;
2. Traveled with me to Steilacoom to HiDef video #506 and #507;
3. Traveled to MP 17.9 near Edmonds to Film #7 this morning (01/09/2010);
4. Traveled with me to Carkeek Park (about MP 10.7) on the pedestrian overpass foot bridge to film #513 this morning;
5. We picked up AMTRAK escort and Road Foreman of Engines Stephen Rowen at King St to help film the departure of #11 near CP Stadium ( on #11's new two hour 'delayed' departure schedule) leaving Seattle with Seattle skyline as back drop.
Mr Luckin and Mr Tomsik departed this afternoon on #8 for Shelby MT and more filimg. They already have lots of stuff in the can (OK, on the video card!) from a four-day stay in Sacramento after making their way from Denver on #5 and some NE corrdior stuff. They also have lots of vintage video from the good old days of NRPC/AMTRAX/AMTRAK to put togther a film/narative tribute to this remarkable American icon.
I haven't done this much railfanning since my days as a train dispatcher. It's a good thing I can still read a timetable and dial in the scanning frequencies!!
If I hear more about dates and times, I'll try and let folks know..
