The Polish 6-axle diesel locomotive SM48 is based on the ALCO RSD/RSC models from the 1940s. It can be seen in the following film from 0:36. The locos make a good deal of high pitch sound (even though they are officially silenced) and kick out a lot of clag. Interesting enough is that the SM48 was actually built in the Soviet Union as type TEM2 and the production ran as late as 1976-1988, but it was just a copy of the ALCO design and blue print and a legacy holdover from the WWII Lend-Lease Program so to speak.

In the same film visible are also the classic Polish 4-axle Bo-Bo electric locos type EU/EP07, which are actually a British design and based on the British Railways Class 83 main line electric from the 1960s.
