WINNIPEG, Manitoba, April 15, 2015 – CN has a long history in Manitoba. Since 1913, CN has accomplished some incredible milestones, from reaching Lynn Lake by rail, to opening Symington Yard, to becoming a major North American rail network spanning 19,600 miles of track and touching three coasts. Today marks a new milestone for CN in Manitoba as it partners with the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba to launch the CN Miracle Match. Throughout the 2015 year, during Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba fundraising appeals, CN will match all community donations dollar-for-dollar up to $300,000.
CN Miracle Match is a national charitable initiative that CN launched in 2006, which rallies communities across Canada behind a very worthy cause – supporting children’s hospital. From 2006-2014, the CN Miracle Match program raised more than $12 million for children’s hospitals across Canada.
“A child’s illness impacts the child, their family and friends and the community that surround them”, states Lawrence Prout, President & CEO. “The money raised by individuals and groups from across Manitoba, Northwestern Ontario and Nunavut will have a greater impact than ever before. Each donation made during all community grassroots campaigns will be matched dollar for dollar through the CN Miracle Match program. We are very grateful for CN’s strong sense of corporate responsibility. Their support will have a positive and life-long impact for the sick children that we serve.”
Claude Mongeau, president and chief executive of CN, said: ”Strong, healthy communities, particulary healthy young people, are at the fore of our community investment focus. We are pleased to work with the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba to help raise donations that will improve the quality of health care available to children across the regions served by the hospital.”
