Been well over a year since I posted here so I thought I'd toss up a few random shots from this year.
1) Not a very good shot, but certainly a note worthy catch, UP 1996 westbound near McFarland, KS on the Golden State Route with train IDULB-19, February 19th

Wonderful photos. I like the way you compose the total scene using the train + foreground + background. Any prairie sunset shots?

Don't stay away for so long. While Dorothy and Toto may not have liked Kansas, the state looks very good in your photos.

I have some prairie sunset shots, just not with me as I'm using my girlfriends computer to post.
Thanks, I used to not be so strict on composition but now I hate miscomposing a shot.
I'll try to not stay away for long.

Great photos Lucas. I like seeing pictures of the lines in the middle of Kansas. From Omaha it was always just a little too far for a day trip. I would have enjoyed seeing the Rock Island and Santa Fe on their respective lines. I particularly like the RI in the Mill Creek area between Alma and Alta Vista. Sometimes I take those roads home from the Great Bend area. It's longer, but you have to stop and smell the roses(diesel and brake shoe smoke) once in a while. Tom

I have some shots from Alma, and Alta Vista proper, but not really any between the two. I've attempted to shoot between the two but each time I have everything turned out to be out of focus. Thanks, and glad you enjoyed them!
