Saturday I talked the wife into going north to Toledo to catch some trains. We passed through Defiance. There was a crew on duty but appeared to be having lunch in the station. Nothing moving there or in Napoleon. We drove north to start following the NS from Delta to Toledo but near Delta there was scanner chatter on 161.220. Yay the I&O had some work going on. We made it just in time to catch them start their run back to Lima filming at the first grade crossing. There was also another railfan there taking pics, can be found on Flickr by looking up nsglc1985.
Next we caught a NS manifest with a EMD SD70M-2 leading east of Swanton.

Next we waited at the silent crossing in Holland for almost an hour. Green signal lied! Well it was worth it because we got ourselves a 2 train meet! A BNSF Ex Santa Fe warbonnet leading an autorack and a NS/BNSF lashup.

Next we caught the Penn Central Heritage along Airline Drive in Toledo. We heard a rumor it was coming but I wasn't expecting it on this train or I would have gotten a photo. I barely had time to get the tripod out of the car.
Last video for sat was an intermodal we caught coming under the brdges west of the station.
We passed by this lashup idling in a yard before calling it a night.

CSX 9136 with 2 GP38-2's by alittlevanwerty, on Flickr

Sunday my wife had a bridal shower so me and the dog drove to Ansonia to wait. We caught 1 train which is 100% better than no trains!

After picking her up we followed the NKP from Coldwater Ohio to Muncie Indiana. I haven't followed it in a while so gotta see what stored out there. In Muncie there was red signals all around so we drove by the locomotive plant. 4 GP20ECO's for CP, 2 brand new NS locos and one for export outside. Back in town we waited til there was a horn blast on the east end of town. A good UP lashup!
Soon on the scanner we heard a NS train get approval to go as soon a the next CSX eastbound came by.
It sounded like they refered to this train as Y197 on the scanner but I don't think that makes sense. Can anyone enlighten me as to what it may be?

Driving north into Bluffton we saw a work train. There is a discussion going on about this on the Ft Wayne railfan site right now so I wanted to see if it was still there.

Also has anyone on here chased the Wabash Central? Are they a 5 day a week operation? Do they use the yellow caboose for shoving moves?

Where you were at in the NS Gevo shot is just west of the Sumner Ave Road bridge in Toledo, Ohio which for me is my old spot out there. I was hoping you would ahv seen an NS officer out there as him and I know each other from several really good encounters I have had with him.

Nice pictures by the way.

We passed though but never saw an NS policeman.
