Steam Chaser
Last Friday I made my way up on the Hannibal Sub to Clarksville to see a few BNSFs. My original plan was to find a southbound and chase it back. After seeing nothing except a BNSF ore train on the siding (ACe leader), I was pleasantly surprised to see a couple of BN SD60Ms switching the Holcim Cement plant at Dundee, a mile north of Clarksville. The engines were preparing to run around the train when I pulled up, so I prepared for some static shots at the other end of the train. Soon after, they pulled around and coupled onto a cut of cars while I got some still shots. After moving them up the track about 300 feet (no idea what that was all about), they ran around their train again and tied on. 3 coal trains, all with ACe leaders (EMDs outnumbered GEs 11 to 6 on the trip!) then proceeded southbound. Looking back, I should have chased one of them southbound, but I was kind of hoping the BNs would go south. They never moved. Oh well, I'm still glad I got a couple of shots of the pair! Hopefully I will have a few more encounters with them soon.
Anyway, here are the two pictures:
