  1. Idaho Amtrak

    Idaho Amtrak

This is UP's snow train, based in Pocatello. When the roads are too slick to use regular crew vehicles, UP hitches up a loco to this rig and uses it to exchange crews with trains that have gone dead out on the line. It's a Metra car (note the graffiti with a reefer attached to supply power for...

Great shot of the yellow/lunar, Joe! I wonder why the F 40 since the P-30, F-25 is supposed to be the passenger and freight speed limits (at least for the GN). They just didn't take the old signs down?

    Rocky lives!

The place has obviously gone to the dogs, but thanks for the MP17 sign shot.

You're the man when it comes to restricting signals on Stevens Pass!

Hey Joe, Great!! You got one. Red/lunars have been kind of elusive up there.

OK, I give up. Just what indication is a lunar over green over red? ;)

Comment by 'GN_fan' in media 'BNSF 4436'

Check out the bumpy switch on the old NP line, also the OSHA ladder on the signal.

Nice composition, signals, train, Richmond Beach in background plus switch and details for modeling purposes.

Are they going to torch 'em or drown 'em?

Comment by 'GN_fan' in media 'Amtrack 167 East'

I'm a GN modeler, so, good detail of the seawall. Almost looks like 3 rail tinplate with that spare ribbon rail between the two mains.

Comment by 'GN_fan' in media 'Todays Grabshot'

Shot shows nice highlighting of the bridge structural details against the background.

Comment by 'GN_fan' in media '5436 and the Dome of Mystery'

Rocky's missing, oh, sorry, wrong era. The dome was built to store bauxite ore from ships for loading into railcars and transit to the Alcoa plant at Malaga, WA. It is mentioned in an old GN GOAT magazine.

Comment by 'GN_fan' in media 'Moonrise over Tank cars'

Kind of reminds me of the movie "Moon Over Parador", but appears to be closer to Richmond Beach, Washington along Puget Sound if those are Chevron asphalt tankers. Great shot!

Great shot of tower details, isn't this be Deception Creek? And yes, the bridge is old, built 1900, so she's 105!

Great shot of an intact portion of the old sea wall. Can't help it, I'm a GN modeler.
