It would have been a "10" if you took it today!

    One-of-a-kind in Bend, OR

"New" BNSF GP60 168 showed up yesterday as local power in Bend, OR, on the Oregon Trunk Sub. It is ex-HLCX 7700, received it's red paint while on lease to the Vermont Railway, and was originally purchased by the Texas-Mexican Railway. Sister BNSF 169 (still in T-M green) was wrecked...

Comment by 'robjacox' in media 'UP 5381 Frazier, OR'

The train is crossing the site of the massive "Frazier Slide" from 2008. On the right is a slide fence and what appears to motion detectors on concrete barricades. The lights (which did not come on at night) are wired to a control box with a small radio antenna on it. I did not notice...

Mr. Vain: "Is faded primer even a color?" That's not faded primer, it's faded CSX gray. And after a week of seeing 100 or so BNSF H2-painted Dash-9's, this WAS a real treat. To each his own!

  7. A real SD45

    A real SD45

Passing through Cheney, WA, last week, we hoped we could locate this SD45. Not only did we find it, but it was parked in a clear spot (shot was taken from a "public" parking lot) and in beautiful light.

I give this shot a ten for two reasons: It is a great shot (lighting, snow on the mountain). And anyone who will risk their lives standing against the railing of the Hwy 97 bridge (on the non-sidewalk side) deserves a 10!
  10. Ex-Oakways on the MRL

    Ex-Oakways on the MRL

2 EMD ex-Oakway SD60's lead an eastbound manifest through the yards on the MRL at Missoula, MT, on July 4. Interestingly, we saw these two units on a NB in Bend, OR, on July 2 as we left town to start our week-long Montana vacation, and we see them here 2 days later.

    WB "Z" at Boyer West

A westbound Z train climbs into Sandpoint, ID, at Boyer West. My auto-focus choked after this shot, wasn't able to get shot of it splitting the signals!
  16. Sandpoint, ID

What time did you have to get up to grab that? That would explain why it wasn't in Bend at 8:00am!
