    short road trip

A short 'road trip' (from Cypress, Tx to Katy, about 15 miles...) yesterday to see Miss Katy on display in Katy, Texas for the 4th. The town was named for the railroad and she often comes home to visit. The locals were here to see her, lots of families and kids taking advantage of the photo op...

    Today's lunch shot

...from Westfield, Tx (N of Houston) brings us a very long mixed drag with just about everything imagineable heading south to Houston. Also, i noticed a very unusual sounding horn on this one. Anyone know why?

    Miss Belle's Grand Entrance

Spent a few hours at the old haunt in Rosenberg (TX), it is the ONLY thing I miss about my old job! It was an ugly day, heavy overcast, cool north wind and an occasional misty drizzle but the trains did not disappoint. A typical good selection of UP and BNSF (and even a CSX leader) and the last...

2 (count 'em: 2!) weekend trackside opportunities

A few hours Saturday allowed me some trackside time in inner Houston. At Englewood Yard, it was very slow except for the hump yard. Here's one of the hump sets awaiting another round; they are now using the bottomless pool of SD40-2 units. That's a Remote Master in the middle, an old SP TEBU...

    New camera, new editor

OK, it's been awhile. I had to replace my 50D quickly when it went bonkers 2 weeks before a trip to Hawaii. Any time I have to get a new camera there is a bit of learning needed, so I crammed a lot into that 2 week window. But not many trains.... So Sunday afternoon I made a trip to Rosenberg...

    Brenham, Tx 3-29-2014

Back to my favorite spot, a relaxing day with clear skies and temps in the mid 70s. First up is a SB Citirail (my 1st) leading a pseudo-Warbonnet with a string of tankers.

    Trackside......finally!

It's been months since I have been able to spend quality time trackside. So I spent Saturday at THAT spot....Rosenberg, Tx where i can catch UP, BNSF and KCS in one quiet spot. Found an Exec unit leading a WMAX rock load, a BNSF meet, and my favotites, Retro Belles among others. It was a good day.
