The A&M is no longer going to be All ALCO

Well I contacted a friend of mine who works there and he said the employees were under the impression they were getting GE's. It's a wait and see thing now. Greg

    Location help

My wife and I were on vacation driving west on Highway 30 out of Portland Oregon and I stopped to grab this shot of the P&W ex-KCS SD40-2. Any of you PNW rail fans recognize the location? I didn't keep any notes on my pictures this trip, lesson learned. :D

    What is the "Red Zone"???

Jeff, oh how right you are. UP doesn't want hand signals for the red zone but radio only, then the weed weasels can do their testing and not be physically present. Greg

Speed Limit across UT salt flats

That's not to say they weren't running a little hot either. :D Last time I worked out there was 1991 and I don't recall where or how much seperation between I-80 and tracks.

Speed Limit across UT salt flats

    GP9rm measurements

Mainline Modeler had drawings of GP7's, GP9's and GP18's that were very well drawn. IIRC they were in the mid 1980's or early 1990's issues. Greg

    UP Reno/Sparks questions..

Well its going to be pretty light for traffic in daylight hours for the next 36 hours, according to my line up in Reno. Looks like 3 trains between 7 and 9:30am west bound and 2 trains east bound between 6:45 and 8 am. The locals won't work Sunday but Monday will see the Reno branch job...

And they aren't very good at the local/yard work either. But an excellent shot regardless of the units suitability as a local unit.
