    While that's true out in the east, you will rarely ever see two rotary (colored) ends facing each other. In the coal yard at North Platte on the UP they have a baloon track built specificly for this purpose. As they switch empty cars together into empty trainsets cars facing the wrong direction...

    I don't think either of the Olympic units are in danger of going yellow. 2002 went in for an overhaul last year and came out with a freshly painted underframe and a white frame stripe. I must say it looks better then the original stripe color too.

    What you just said LATX has nothing at all to do with this accident. Keep wishing for Class 1's to get back into the market, it will never happen they wanted out for a reason...they were losing money on it!

    The UP bypass around town can be photogenic with some big curves and the bridge over top the BNSF. As far as I know the BNSF mainline isn't very busy but the yard is.

    As of this morning CSX 847 departed Coffeyville, KS at 7:03 AM, unless the train can make good time to Salina I will probably be seeing this unit at night.
