    Some Old School Track Work

I don't OHSA would approve of some of their practices or for that matter how they were dressed.

Need help identifying these (very old) (have pics)

Please call either your local police or fire department and explain to them what you have and want to dispose of them. Because they contain very old dynamite they could be extremely unstable. Over time the nitroglycerin in the dynamite leaches or "sweats" out...

Need help finding info on antique CNO&TP brass switch padlock??

Do not try to clean or restore it. Many times that will actually lessen the value. Part of the intrinsic value of an antique is its patina.

    Scenic Sub Slides

The GN had plenty of problems along this stretch of line too. Here's the aftermath of what happened when train #27, The Fast Mail, ran into a mudslide in the middle of the night near Mukilteo in February of 1948.

What did UP do to their retired 4-6-6-4 3985

Are you serious Robert? You always seem so "knowledgeable" about anything railroad related. 3985 was restored in about 1980 and been running on and off since then. It's not out as offen as 8444 but it is serviceable.

    Casey-Cavin Power Reverse Gear

I found the Canadian patent for this, CA 157481, but unfortunately they don't have image content of patents before 1920 available on line. Perhaps you should contact the patent office and see if they have it in their archives. There should be very detailed drawings associated with a patent...

    railroad signage help

It looks like a military guideon to me. The X represnts the crossed muskets of the infantry, A = Alpha Company, 9 = 9th Division, 4 = 4 Infantry. Hand painted symbols like this were/are commonly attached to vehicles for unit identification. Just a guess, but that's what I see.

Define "vintage". Are we talking 1800's, 1900's or postwar streamline era? Most of the major fallen flags railroads have historical socities with website that have lots of photos. Try Googling your favorite railroad as well as others and you'll be suprised whats out there.

    Any Camp 6 updates?

Well this is only pure speculation but, When you think about the logistics of moving some of this equipment, especially the Lidgerwood, the costs would be almost prohibitive. Then you also have to look around at who would be interested in obtaining, no less "restoring" it. It can't go far...

    Any Camp 6 updates?

Any idea what's to happen to the Liderwood skidder? When I saw it about a year ago if was looking pretty rusted out and fragile. If they're going to move it I'd love to be there when they lower the spar tree.
