I know I've seen him less and less here over the last couple of months. I was hoping it was just because he was busy with other things.

    Question from an 'outsider'

For most people that just go about their business, and don't really take an interest to railroads, trains are just "there". What was the purpose of this chimney looking thing in this swinging bridge photo?

Here’s a photo of one on the Dan river in virginia. The elevated manhole is on the lower left. https://bridgehunter.com/photos/37/64/376403-L.jpg

Simple means all the steam cylinders are fed live steam at the same time. Compound means it recycles the steam from the rear...

    Pere Marquette 1225 Tribute

That was really good. I noticed you managed to edit the video to make it 12 minutes and 25 seconds long, as well.

    Finally!

Now that you've finished that quest, what's next?

New to the RR life. Need some help!

Depending on the railroad, you could be working 12 on and 10 off, seven days a week, or be on the extra board, and only work a few days a week, whenever the railroad needs you. You will probably also need to be available when called, usually with an hour or so's notice. You can be almost certain...

    Unknown railroad objects

Possibly the odd one is something from a hotel. Maybe “The Imperial” located in Massachusetts.
