    Neither. The train or cars had to be stopped when the washout happened. There is no way a locomotive could have crossed that. The cars were pulled away so the fill or bridge could be repaired. No other reasonable way to get them off. Bruce

    Answers here: 27/30 is cylinder bore and stroke. 53.2 is tractive effort in 1000's. F63 is the class, as mentioned. I suspect F means 2-8-2 and 63 is driver diameter. Bruce
