    Engine Boop??

It could be a "map trap." https://www.geographyrealm.com/map-traps-intentional-mapping-errors-combat-plagiarism/ Bruce

    Engine Boop??

I suspect the map draftsman, who was not knowledgeable about railroads, misread a diagram that said "SHOP." Just a little distortion or smudge on the "SH" could make it look like "BO." Bruce

Vintage live steam Loco id help

Looks like an Americanized version of this. https://www.sidestreet.info/locos/loco74.html A better place to ask would be a live steam forum, especially one for whatever gauge this is. Bruce

Did a bridge builder construct a two-track bridge where the tracks "overlapped"? (Gauntlet)

Probably no closer than that RR track off to the far left. :) Isn't this bridge for an electrified commuter rail line? No box cars. Bruce

Outsider query on freight bumper posts

I've never seen a dirt pile except in photos. The usual quick and easy bumper was a single tie fastened on the top of the rail, or two crossed ties in a vertical X pattern. Here are some diagrams I posted on a thread about bumpers: https://ngdiscussion.net/phorum/read.php?1,304106,304233...

Outsider query on freight bumper posts

I suspect they are rare in yards as there are so few tracks that end. Almost all have switches on each end. Maybe UK yards were more limited on room. Bumpers are very common on industrial spurs but rare in yards. Bruce

Locomotive's front wheels stayed on the rails! Any more information?

I did a quick image search. The oldest I found was on a foreign site, dated 2012, that said it happened in America. Bruce

Did any railcars in the US or Canada have two axles?

There were a few early ones, outside of industrial use, but I've read they weren't successful in the U.S. due to poor track compared to Europe where they were common. This is the only modern one I've seen in freight service. (model) And there are the Talgo-type passenger cars, but those...

Did a bridge builder construct a two-track bridge where the tracks "overlapped"? (Gauntlet)

Michigan. Here is a smaller, wider angle version of the photo. https://www.michiganrailroads.com/stations-locations/85-delta-county-21/702-gladstone-mi-soo-line-facilities Bruce

Did a bridge builder construct a two-track bridge where the tracks "overlapped"? (Gauntlet)

Here's a real case of "double track" using a shared rail. Or is it 4 tracks using 5 rails? :) Bruce

Did a bridge builder construct a two-track bridge where the tracks "overlapped"? (Gauntlet)

I suspect it was more likely to be a route changed from single track to double track, but the bridge addition or replacement was delayed. This arrangement allowed both lines to use a single bridge without needing any switches. It would be treated just like a longer single track section...
