Westbound at First Light

A westbound coal train passes Dalbow Road in
O'Fallon, Missouri.
I thought that coal loads run east. Not west.

The Hannibal Subdivision's railroad west runs from Quincy, IL to St. Louis. So you would see loaded coal trains coming from out west making their way from Quincy to St. Louis (railroad west).
