Stellarton station

When passenger traffic started going down, CN/VIA came up with a "brilliant" plan to close down the New Glasgow station, turn the Stellarton station into RR offices and build a smaller station right between the two towns. It didn't take long for passenger service to end, leaving the station unused and useless. Today its owned by the Museum of Industry that also owns many steam locomotives, including Canada's oldest one (not a replica!), its right behind me. The photo was taken through the fence, as the facility is unacessible and lickely used for storage. Outside of the parking lot, weeds 2-3feet high have grown up around the former station. Well done VIA! Thanks for the memories of train service.
