Standing Tall

A pair of semaphores on the former Monon line still perform their duties after several decades of service at Romney, Indiana. Although a few CSX freights ply the route today, the line is former Chicago, Indianapolis and Louisville (CIL) trackage.
The railroad earned the name Monon due to the convergence of its four main routes in small town Monon, Indiana. Louisville and Nashville got the line in 1971 after a merger.
Thanks Tom. I was praying hard to catch a CSX train making the split. I was on the way to a friend's house and had about 30 minutes to spare...no such luck though. Still very neat to see up close!
