Number Boards- Inside Looking Out

This picture was taken on the "OVR" (Ottawa Valley Railway a Rail America Company)in North Bay Ontario Canada. This x-CP Rail locomotive is a GP-35. Back in the 1980's the inside of the cab was refurbished, when they did this they cut a rectangular hole in the center of the number board doors inside the cab and put these number plates which was light up from the light bulbs inside the number board. As an engineer I found this to be a great idea because if you we're on a train in the middle of the night and were talking to the dispatcher I'd always be looking for the number of the locomotive you were on. You'd look up and see them plain as day. This is my entry for the January photo contest.

Hogger1-

Were you on a passenger train or do you always use a 90# trainline? Just curious...

BTW-cool shot!

90# is regular freight trainline. Its 110# for passenger. At least thats what is says in my rule book.-Dan Ruffner

Great picture Hogger1. I see you were right on the speed.....LOL. Too bad the load meter didn't light up more.

Nice to see a GP35. Too bad CP got rid of them.
