CP SW8 6701 switching at Esquimalt BC on CPR's E&N Railway.

In the background is GP38 3009 and GP35 5019 after brining a train down from Nanimo, waiting for their train to made up to make the return trip north.

6701 was converted into slug 1011 in 1994, 5019 has been retired, 3009 is still in active service.

What an amazing photo, especially the multimark trucks! I have caught this units brother, CP 1010 and have been lucky enought to see an ex-CN SW8 still at work at a paper plant.

Nice shot!! Just one small correction though, the yard is actually in Victoria. The old Esquimalt yard is actually three miles "north" near the dockyards.
 
So then this would technically be a transfer move between the two yards Tyler?

I don't think it would be a transfer move as the Esquimalt yard was removed many, many, many years ago, as in before diesel locomotives took over. They were probably putting the northbound Victoria Turn together or may have just finished switching down Store St. I think there were two customers in Esquimalt at the time, but the Victoria Turn would switch them on their way back to Nanaimo.
