Fallen Flags on a Rainy Day

These two High Iron warriors never made it into UP liveries, both were retired by Union Pacific a few months after this photo was taken. SP 7484 (SD45R in Espee terms) was removed from the UP roster on February 7, 2001. DRGW 5391 (SD40T-2, slated to become UP 8584) fell on December 28, 2000. I was not able to find out if these locomotives were put into service elsewhere, or if thet were scrapped. Any help on their disposition would be appreciated !!

These two locomotives spent most of their last year in service as hauler power out of West Colton, California. They are seen here on a rainy day in September 2000 as power for the Anaheim Hauler.
just discovered via further google searching that SP 7484 is now painted in KCS colors, road number 6103.

DRGW 5391 is now in service for Wheeling & Lake Erie as WE 5391, still in Rio Grande paint.

That's good to know about that DRGW but to bad for the SP. But at least it's on a better railroad than UP!!

KCS 6103 is now Pan Am Railways SD40-3 611
