F45 Warbonnet on the "Loop"

Santa Fe's eastbound tonnage, led by SDF45 #5988, makes its way around Southern Pacific's Tehachapi Loop in Tehachapi Pass in 1984.
good pic, a lot of power there...

Im wondering about this class of unit (F45), It was made to be like the old alcos??? just for passengers???
Sorry, but can you tell me something about it???

So very true. That certainly added to the anticipation factor for the photographer because you could always expect an interesting combination of headend power.

I was lucky enough to fan the "LOOP" a few times back in the mid-1980s.
Thank you so very much for bringing back some special ATSF memories (Blue and Yellow Santa Fe).
My mom and I even chased an F45 train (COWL) from the Loop to Mojave on a July 4 weeked back then. Thank you again so much!
