Do they really need all those signals?

Four tracks, four sets of signals. The other bridge faces the other way, so westbounds have instructions. Lots of crossovers on this line, so the various signal indications will tell trains if there is a train being crossed over in front of them, etc. The two sets of three on the left are because trains using them will have to cross over one or two tracks in a few miles to leave the yard running track. I have only observed red/red, yellow/red, green/red, or red/red/red or yellow/red/red.

Not sure if "Enclouded" is a real word, but it's a great photo.
