I have so many "meet pictures", it's difficult to choose which one to use...
So, I looked through a couple sheets of slides and grabbed the first one I found... Hmmm... Not sure it's a great shot, no artistic photography, but it has some pretty neat elements in it... The old signal bridge, an Alco, some snow, a somewhat decent looking sky...
Eh, I'll submit this one...
So here we are on Train #270 having just set out the Oneonta's and made a pickup of a block of northbounds off of SU-2... Just as we are about done swapping cars, the Colliersville detector goes off, so we know we're gonna wait a few minutes at least... We pull up to the interlocking to wait. It's cold outside, and as long as we're stopped, the cab warms up pretty quick, no problems there, and gives us a chance to "take care of mother nature business" etc... After about 5 minutes, we can hear the horns blowing for Gas Avenue, and around the bend appears the headlights of the southbound... Out of courtesy, the southbound engineer dims the headlight and turns off the ditch lights. I snap the picture. Even though the southbound just went through the detector, I open the door and step outside to watch for dragging equipment, hot journals, and secured loads... The breeze from the southbound in the artic cold air turns my ears red and numb in seconds. Like a whisp the southbound is gone. The whiney EMD and chugging Alco can be heard as the engineer opens her up a little after safe passage of the interlocking... By the time I get the door shut and sealed, We've got the signal... Within a few minutes we'll be clear the interlocking and rolling along only to meet again...
