Rain in the Desert

Rain in the Desert

Here the PGSQ is rounding a 12 degree curve south of Glenfraser. This area is a desert region of British Columbia and is known for sage and cactus and about 11" of annual rainfall. When I took this picture, a crack of thunder and about an half an inch of rain fell in about 10 minutes. So much for the hot dry desert. Five or six miles down the hill, the train was in brilliant sunshine.
The boxcars are loaded with pulp for the ocean docks at Squamish.
Thanks again for shooting the BC Rail in these end-days. (Aren't there still ginseng farms down there too?) It is to my shame that I have yet to photograph the blue GE's.
