Almost Down....Almost Out

The last 6-axle SP locomotive still in Kodachrome colors sits in Eugene Yard on 3/21/2000. In not very many months this veteran would finally be retired by the UP.
I remember seeing this locomotive leading a train south out of Ashland about a month after the SPSF merger was denied. One of my traveling companions said, "Look! It's the new 'old' paint scheme!"
 
I had the liberty of checking out the #7357 while we worked it up into a QHKNP at Hinkle a few years back... I believe it was retired after it arrived at North Platte; I do remember that it was falling apart at the seams... The rear door handle came off in my hand! Ha!
