I would assume that this was at a time when mainline traffic had to be diverted via the Crowsnest sub, Cranbrook sub, and then north on the Windermere sub to join the mainline at Golden which happens from time to time when there are problems somewhere between Calgary and Golden. Is this correct Steve?
 
I'am not 100% sure on that but i do know i saw about 5 to 6 intermodel go through the Crowsnest Pass in the 2 weeks that i was there. I think they run intermodels through there as it would be a waste of time to run a train that's down south up to Calgary from Lethbridge, it would be shorter to run it through the Crowsnest Pass to Cranbrook then up to Golden. I hope this helps for all it's wroth.

We hardly ever handle intermodal traffic out of our terminal and only do so when there are problems on the mainline like I said above. Nice catch Steve, very rare indeed!
