Holy cow! This is an incredible find, AFIK. I thought these had been buried years ago! I loved these two locomotives - first RS1's I'd ever seen. Back when I was in college, I was a charter member of the Washington State Railroads Historical Society, and we tried to get the DOE to donate one of them. They refused saying that they were too much of a radioactivity risk. Not long afterward, they were pulled out of the old DOE railroad shops (now the TCRY) and taken out to one of the sites, reputedly to be buried as waste. One of them (perhaps this one?) I'd heard was going to be preserved for display at the former FFTF reactor facility. I went looking for it about 15-20 years ago, but didn't find it. So, where are they? Are they in a public-accessible area? Next time I'm out home, I'd love to pay the old girls a visit.

Thanks for sharing these photos. Absolutely amazing!
