Green amid rusty brown

Green amid rusty brown

Back in 1989 when I first ventured across the Oz continent to check out the "big trains" of the Pilbara region, I discovered big aussie alcos. Back then the Hamersley Iron loco roster still offered a variety of green machines.
In this shot two alcos are spliced by a 60 class SD50s.
The massive iron ore train arriving into Parker Point yard at Dampier. And, in november I can tell you it was stinking HOT, in excess of 40 deg C. Luckily, I wasn't far from the Dampier pub and air conditioned supermarket.

Aussie Alco.
