Sylacauga Interchange

This set of 3 varied motors on the Eastern Alabama Railway (EARY) is seen after shoving a string of NS interchange cars into a stub-end siding in Sylacauga, Alabama. The EARY is a short line railroad based in Sylacauga and interchanges with NS here and CSX up the way in Talladega, Alabama. The local Imery's marble quarry, a Blue Bell Creamery, and fertilizer plants keep this railroad very busy.

Actually Chris, these two motors, the 3890 and 3891, are originally Southern Rwy. engines. The 3890 was built as SOU 2811 in March 1970. It transended over to NS and then RailAmerica purchased and numbered it the 739. Then Carolina Piedmont Railroad took it and numbered it the 3890. The 3891 has basically the same history. RailAmerica took it from NS and numbered it the 738. Carolina Piedmont renumbered it the 3891.
