CN 1900 (1958 GMD1)

CN GMD1s were famous for their A-1-A 6-axle trucks, designed to better spread the weight on light-weight Prairie Branchlines. The 1900 series never had them however, they even came equipped with steam generators! Guess they were intended mainly for city and mainline switching - the last five were retired on December 18th, 1997. Three are still working for CN after being rebuild into the 1400 series.

After being donated by CN in 1999, this unit has been preserved in operating condition, although I do not believe hes actually ran anywhere, particularly since CN would be quite reluctant to allow him onto their mainline four tracks over.

At one time they were running on grain branch lines in Western Canada on 60lb.
