Coast Starlate

Jst passing through the Van Nuys Amtrak Station. Led by #118. Note. there is no Parlor Car on this Train. On 8/26/03
Somewhat blurry, though I think that's often the fault of digital camera technology.

Instead of calling the train STAR-LATE, we should point the finger where it belongs - U.P. CAN'T HANDLE IT - since more often than not it's the host RR's fault.

Hi!

You got that right! The UPRR is NOT well-managed as far as keeping the outfit fluid!

GAD! More mudslides out there, but I think the line re-opened today???

I think the train may be moving, and that would account for the slight blur?

Cheers!

Rob

Well. How often was this Train on Time back when the SP was still around? This Train. The Coast Starlight. Has always been called the Coast Starlate sense I can remember.

On the UP part. They never could handle it before they took CN&W.

Hi!

As I understand, the SP was getting better BEFORE the UP took it over?

Now the SUNSET LTD was the one that they really "big-holed," Amtrak took them to court over that one. Maybe it is time to do so again?

Lately, the Satrlight seems to be doing a bit better? Maybe it is all that new track they had to lay?

Cheers!

Rob
