The film from which these South America shots is extracted is quite old and has darkened over time. Regular 8mm is much smaller than Super 8mm. Super 8mm has smaller sproket holes which permits more space for the film. My MILW movie DVD is converted from Super8 film that is far superior to this old regular 8. The MILW film is from 1978, and was rarely run. It is still in pristine conditiion. The regular 8mm of these South America extractions is 11 years older, but has run hundreds of times and is quite brittle. Conversion to digitial was almost impossible. And the film has darkened considerablely.

This extraction is from a steam passenger train on the FC Belgrano in Northern Argentina. My brother, his wife, and I traveled from Retiro Station, Buenos Aires, Argentina to La Paz, Bolivia, by rail, in December 1967. This was a four day trip. The train departed under wire from Buenos Aires on the mainline that runs from Buenos Aires to Santiago, Chile. At the junction with the FC Belgrano, which runs to the northern frontier with Bolivia, we were switched to steam. So about a half of a day under wire and 3 and a half days behind steam. The FC Belgrano is meter gauge.
