AMTRAK 383 F40PHR

Take your pictures while you can! Aside from the passenger cars now stored in Denver & VIA Maintenance center building everything in this photo is gone. Even if the train was still running you couldnt take these photos today as light rail is being constructed where I was standing.

My one and likely only AMTRAK F40 roster - the fleet is retired now so no more photos unless I can find one in the boonies. Back in 2003 Jennifer Lopez was filming a horror movie in Winnipeg called Gigli. The AOE trainset was used for a couple scenes, so was run in circles from the VMC to Union Station with CN 9670-AMTRAK 383, GP40-2W & F40PHR for power respectively.

American Orient has since gone bankrupt, the Geep was retired in 2007, sold to Progress Rail and is currently rusting in a Georgia deadline. Engine 383 had its AMTRAK logos patched over when it came through on its cross-country journey next year, I was hoping it would be repainted in full AOE paint to match the rolling stock but that wasnt meant to be. Soon after the trip he was sold to Ferromex, then came back to north to Maine where it was scrapped by MMA in 2006 as part of the Poland project with its prime mover salvaged to re-power old Soviet locos back home.
