1DET-02

After a day of on/off rainshowers, the sun peeks out just in time as CP detour train 1DET-02 rolls by 387 on the main at Cowley. I suspect the skeleton cars placed immediately behind the power are from TumTum Lumber on the Shuswap Subdivision.
I'm going out to the Crowsnest area later this week on vacation. It's some very nice country.

That looks like 478 to me with skeleton pole cars lifted on the headend from the Galloway pole yard on the Cranbrook sub. In fact it couldn't be a detour from the mainline because the 9703 is part of the captive 9700 - 9714 group equipped with Union Pacific distributed power equipment. These locos can only be linked to UP power and cannot be linked with any CP power.

Heh.. you learn something new everyday. So then there must be a corresponding group of UP EMDs that are only linkable to CP units?
