Greetings,
Where are trackside breweries traditionally located? In cities, out in the country (the 'boonies' or 'sticks') or somewhere inbetween?

Also; are they located mostly in the eastern third of the U.S., central third of the U.S. or western third of the U.S.?

Thank you

In NorCal both of these have rail service.

Budweiser Brewery, Vacaville, CA
Sierra Nevada, Chico, CA

The old Olympia Brewery in Tumwater, WA. was served by a UP branch. You can probably find it on Map Quest or Google Earth.

Modern breweries are located close to their markets: cities. The cost of transportation of their finished prodct to their customers is a major consideration. A large one in Houston (Anheuser-Busch) is at the intersection of major highways (IH 10 /IH610) and has rail service for incoming raw materials. Some larger breweries make their own cans, some ship them in. A view from Google Earth shows they even have a Trackmobile. FWIW, during times of emergencies they have been known to switch from canning beer to canning water to distribute after hurricanes and other large disasters.

The old Pearl Brewery in San Antonio was served for many years by electric traction railroad. It was very close to downtown San Antonio.
