Heart Shaped, SAL B RY j.h.w. climax co.wark nu usa Key - fraim 21287 sal ry
Painted- SAL ry pat march 5 1929 no key - I was told by grandfather this was painted by RR for a bicentennial celebration, Im not sure where that took place or the authenticity of that story.
Adalake- scl rr at 2040482 no key
Im new to RR, but have been able to research the history of these lines. My real questions are about the possible value of these for insurance, and if any one knows more about the Painted one... Thanks in advance I look forward to many great convos. to come!
The one key you have will fit all three locks as SAL type key was retained when the SAL & ACL merged. The ACL key is straight, no crook. First lock is the oldest, 2nd lock is newer, last lock is the newest. There were also some locks make by Lang with the logo stamped on the lock cover in a diamond shape with LANG in block lettere stamped inside the diamond. Been working for CSX since the SCL days of 1973 and have not seen another "Bicentennial" lock such as the one in your possession. Locks with keys always fetch more than lock itself, but in my estimation the locks would go in a range from $25 - $50, it is a large property and those locks were common, especially in the south. Of course, if you took the locks out west, they might get you more $$$, good luck.
