Where is the Omaha Posse?

Railroadforums.com is a free online Railroad Discussion Forum and Railroad Photo Gallery for railroaders, railfans, model railroaders and anyone else who is interested in railroads. We cover a wide variety of topics, including freight trains, passenger and commuter railroads, rail news and information, tourist railroads, railway museums and railroad history.

The 4014, as long it was the beautiful UP passenger cars. Amtrak coaches would be fine too as long as I can hear the whistle. If you couldn't hear the locomotive it wouldn't matter what is pulling the train. Tom's opinion #38476-3.

FYI, I've posted some shots from my recent trip to NJ for a family function on the Eastern page.

A few shots from today. First two at Plattsmouth and Oreapolis NE, last two at Council Bluffs IA.

4 from the Sandhills of western Nebraska. Much interesting scenery, goal was not railroad photography however so I grabbed only a few. Station and turntable at Bridgeport and a UP coal skirting the edge of Lake McConaughy. Distant shot is from high on a hill near Chimney Rock.

Nice to see the 4014 at MP 0. Good job Ed. I got this image near the top of Arcadia Hill which is on the Mississippi Missouri River Divide in Iowa. I was looking for a hill where the 4014 would make some chugging sounds. Small chugs on .7%, but alas with a large loco and only a few cars that is all we can hope for. Thought about going this morning but I see by the tweets he didn't pass 72nd St till after 11. He was supposed to be in Fremont at 9:30. Don't know what happened.

I caught the Big Boy near 156th in Omaha and then just east of Fremont. I believe UP changed the schedule to 4014 reaching Fremont around 11:30 at some point late yesterday. There was some MOW work going on west of Valley, but I don’t think it would’ve affected 4014’s schedule much. I guess the reason for the delay will remain a mystery.

Its great we have had the BigBoy in our area twice now! Got to catch up with a lot of people trackside over the past couple of weeks!

Great shots from all of you. It is nice when there is enough "good" photographers chasing to get a well rounded experience. Bill, to answer your question the other tracks in the long view photo are BNSF. There is a railroad on either side of the North Platte River in this part of Nebraska.

Another Sandhills picture. The UP coal line out in the roller coaster hills on the way to Chimney Rock.

UP coal train at Fremont, NE and Waterloo, NE. Working on my Itsed imitation, but not doing too good with the 500mm. More practice, more practice. Got some nice heat distortion though.
