We at the Gold Coast Railroad Museum in Miami are restoring our Crown Metals 24 inch "Little Toot" loco. Somewhere along the years, the tubes that carry sand from the sand dome to the wheels have been removed, and we'd like to restore them. However, the path and configuration of these tubes appear to be somewhat contorted, and there is no maintenance information available on this item. We can figure something out but would like to be accurate. Any photos or sketches of a Little Toot with the tubes in place would be gratefully received!

Good luck on your project. I did a Google search using "Little Toot park locomotive" and came up with several hits including two videos on You Tube. This one has footage of restoration of one of the locomotives. I hope it helps you.

Perhaps the videos and other Google hits have names of other organizations that have restored Little Toot locos that will share their info with you.

Thanks very much for your reply. Your tip on other organizations was a help (why didn't I think of it!) and I found several photos of operating trains, one of which clearly shows the tube installation. Much simpler than we had assumed, it's just a bent tubing that hangs freely over the wheels. We had assumed it needed to be fastened to the frame in some way, which had us scratching our heads. Again, thank you for your interest!
