I'm looking for any information about Colorado & Southern caboose 10581 repurposed in 1973 for use as a dwelling at 13C Seton Plaza, Santa Fe, New Mexico. This property was owned by my family from 1971 to 2022. The Pullman car was sited in 1931 by Ernest Thompson Seton. The replica depot was built in 1978, and the dwelling consists of the caboose, depot, and Pullman car.

Caboose 10581 was seen in regular use in the early 1960s on the southeast Denver spur line of the Conners Branch local of the Colorado and Southern Railway that terminated near Dahlia Avenue east of Colorado Boulevard. The caboose was purchased in 1973 and delivered from Denver for a total cost of $7,868. This caboose was likely one of a series of ten built in 1919 and probably operated mainly in Colorado. As photographed in 1974, this caboose had the markings of the Burlington Route, which had purchased the rail assets which included this caboose in 1970.

Little is known about the Pullman car on this property, other than it is "duckbill" style and dates to about 1865-1879 and was one of several rail cars given to Seton in exchange for granting right of way to the railroad near Seton Village south of Santa Fe.
