Berwick-on-Tweed dep 16:45 (GNER 91)
A few last morning impressions from Birmingham New Street:
Desiro
Class 323
Waiting for the Voyager to Edinburgh
Nice York station:
After arrival at Berwick-upon-Tweed of course I immediately went to the Royal Border Bridge across River Tweed, 659 metres long, built 1847-50. The photos were taken from the second and newest of three bridges next to each other, the Royal Tweed Bridge.
GNER class 91 to Glasgow
A southbound Virgin Voyager
View towards the sea and Old Bridge, to the left in the background you can spot Lindisfarne island
A freight train with EWS 66059
And a GNER HST Aberdeen - London
Now I walked along the shore, here the Old Bridge from 1634
The fortified town Berwick changed ownership more than a dozen times between England and Scotland in medieval times. Today it's the northernmost town of England, although it kept a special status for a long time, even up to the late 19th century it was especially mentioned in state treaties.
More clouds came up, but with them great moods and this GNER 91 to Edinburgh
Additionally I had a lot of luck again... with this 91 from Glasgow
A colleague photographer - but probably not looking for railways
Another Voyager
And again
The church of Spittal
OK, this time the Voyager was inserted virtually <img src="styles/default/xenforo/smilies/rfsmile/icon_wink.gif" class="mceSmilie" alt="" title="Icon Wink " />
The promenade at Spittal beach, including HST on the hill ridge
Along the coast path
Two DRS 37s with measuring train - no sun, but looks good in b/w
Again Lindisfarne on the horizon, the causeway to the island can only be used during low tide
A Midland Mainline HST, town and bridges in the background (91 on the bridge virtual again... <img src="styles/default/xenforo/smilies/rfsmile/icon_wink.gif" class="mceSmilie" alt="" title="Icon Wink " />)
A Voyager approaches
The trailer van of an InterCity 225 with class 91
GNER HST from Aberdeen
View at Spittal and a Voyager on the bridge
Another southbound Voyager
A HST to Aberdeen
Und finally a Voyager and class 91 in the sky, back at the town
